India vs New Zealand 2019: Twitter Compares Dinesh Karthik With MS Dhoni After Former Refused Single
The Twitter family went on to troll Dinesh Karthik after he refused a single to Krunal Pandya. The social media platform compared Dinesh Karthik with former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. We have seen that MS Dhoni had backed himself to get India over the line and even did so on many occasions. However, Dhoni also didn’t give chance to Ambati Rayudu against England but could not hit the winning runs.
Meanwhile, India required 14 runs off the final four balls and Dinesh Karthik was on strike. The right-hander smashed the ball towards the long-on region but send back Krunal Pandya. Consequently, DK took the onus on his shoulders to get India over the line.

Karthik could not get India over the line.
However, the Tamil batsman could only manage a single off the next ball. Krunal Pandya could also get one run off the penultimate ball and India required 11 runs off the final ball, which was impossible.
Here is the video in which Dhoni denied Ashwin the single.
Southee bowled one wide and DK hit a last ball six but the tourists fell short by four runs. Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik was timing the ball to perfection and he backed himself to clear the ropes. However, it wasn’t to be the case. In fact, it was an instinctive decision and Karthik must have thought of the refusing the single at the last minute.
Meanwhile, it would not have been a bad idea to go for the single as Krunal Pandya was also timing the ball well. Pandya scored 26 runs off 13 balls and had the skills to clear the ropes.

Meanwhile, India won the ODI series against New Zealand by 4-1. However, they lost the T20I series by 2-1. But there were some big positives for the visitors as they got a chance to test their bench strength, which will help them in the upcoming World Cup.
Here is how Twitter trolled Dinesh Karthik:
Brilliant hitting by DK but small mistakes have a big effect on the result in T20s. Was a mistake to not take that single with Krunal at the other end.#IndVsNZ

What was DK’s point in refusing the single? It’s not like he was batting with a tailender who couldn’t have hit a 6. Krunal had just as much chance of clearing the boundary as DK. This “misjudgement” might perhaps cost him a potential World Cup spot. #NZvIND

Dinesh Karthik thinks he was Dhoni. Okay absolutely fine. But he thought Krunal Pandya is Ashwin????? #NZvIND

Why didn't Karthik take that single? Does he think he is Dhoni?

Dinesh Karthik is clearly not a fan of Salman Khan. He doesn't believe in Hit and Run.#INDvNZ

Mr. Dinesh Karthik you are not MS DHONI to deny a single and then finish with sixes. You might have done it once but you can't do it every time like MS does… #INDvsNZt20

Dinesh Karthik should not play for India after this. That is the most horrible thing I’ve seen in a while.

Lot of talk about Karthik turning down the single like Dhoni used to. He was in great touch, was backing himself. In the heat of the moment you do things by instinct. He will realise he should have taken it given Pandya was hitting well. Not sure would've made a difference though
