South African pacer Dale Steyn has surpassed legendary Kapil Dev by taking 437 wickets in Test cricket. The former Indian cricketer had 434 Test wickets to his name. Steyn has now equalled England pacer Stuart Broad's record and has become the joint 7th highest wicket-taker in Test cricket.
Steyn achieved this milestone in the first Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka at Kingsmead, Durban. He took four wickets in the match and has also surpassed former legendary fast bowler Shaun Pollack to become the leading wicket-taker for South Africa in Test cricket.

The fast bowler has been in good form after his return to professional cricket after a career-threatening shoulder injury. “After not playing for two years, I feel like it’s a blessing to just be playing again. I’ve almost had to start over. I’m not on 430-odd wickets, I’m on 20 since breaking Shaun Pollock’s record. It’s nice to finish a three-Test series against Pakistan and not have someone write: ‘He’s an injury away from retiring.’ It’s nice to contribute again. Hopefully, I can continue this for longer,” Steyn said.
