Chandigarh: A 38-year-old man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself in a forest area behind the Golf Club on Monday. The victim has been identified as Jagdamba Parsad, a native of Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. The police claimed that the victim did not have an injury marks on the body. Inquest proceedings have been initiated at the Sector 26 police station. TNS

Stone of toilet block laid

Chandigarh: MP Kirron Kher on Monday laid the foundation stone of a toilet block in the Sector 39-D market. Mayor Rajesh Kumar Kalia, Senior Deputy Mayor Hardeep Singh, area concillor Gurbax Rawat, other councillors, MC officials and prominent persons of the area were present. The toilet block will be constructed at a cost of Rs 22.22 lakh. MPLAD funds would be used to execute the project. TNS

Chandigarh: Ambala Aces Doctors XI defeated Pharma Panthers by two wickets in a Champions Corporate Cricket League match here on Monday. Batting first, Pharma Panthers scored 108/8 in 20. Ankur Sharma (35) and Abhishek (23) made useful contributions to the total. Tarun claimed three wickets for Doctors XI, while Raghav took two. In reply, Ambala Aces reached home in 19.4 overs with two wickets in hand. Aakash scored 26 runs, while Hardeep chipped in with 21 runs. Chandigarh: An unbeaten ton by Harvinder Singh helped Adda’s Cricket Eleven (ACE) beat PMK Group by 82 runs in the Salute Indian Army Cricket Trophy final, here on Monday. Opting to bat, ACE rode on Harvinder’s 105-run knock to score 179/4 in 20 overs. Harvinder’s 90-ball stay in the middle was studded with 14 boundaries and three sixes. Sikander Rana added 35 runs to the total. Satpal Sharma, Neeraj Thakur, Piyush Mahajan and Kshitij claimed a wicket each for PMK. Chasing a challenging total, PMK boys were all out for 98 runs in 19.3 overs. Lokesh claimed two wickets, while Prateek, Divjot Singh, Jasbir Singh and Arun Luthra claimed a wicket apiece for ACE. Ashish Thakur (35) was the top scorer for PMK Group. TNS
